sheepskins
Sheepskins handmade by myself on the farm from our Jacob and Lleyn sheep. They are beautiful and practicle, having a multitude of uses. From throws and rugs to dog beds and camping, they add a little luxury to your home. The Jacob hides are naturally patterned with white/cream fleece dotted with black/brown patches, making every one unique. The fleece length depends on the season and is soft and silky. The Lleyn hides are naturally white/cream in colour and are undyed and unbleached. They are soft and bouncy to touch.
The sheepskins are available as I process and finish them, which takes around three weeks and is all done by hand. Please send me a message to order one. Delivery is availble by courier, please enquire for details.
the process
This begins by collecting the hides from the local, family run, friendly abattoir we use and bringing them back to the farm, covering in salt and leaving to cure. Then the tanning process is started.
the finished product
The next part includes framing, drying, softening, sanding and brushing the skins to make them soft and beautiful. All done by hand by myself here on the farm.
